Topic Areas

a. Data: Further our understanding of the recent trends in pediatric workforce by analyzing and updating data on physician scientists, workforce diversity, doctors of osteopathic medicine in pediatrics, advanced practice providers (APPs), and work profiles (clinical, teaching, research, other activity) of our pediatric subspecialists.
b. Need and Access: Partner with the appropriate organizations to understand the workforce needs throughout the country in order to answer questions related to access, regionalization of care, and appropriate distribution of our workforce (taking into account possible changes in care model [role of APPs, psychologists, social workers], changes in referral patterns [influencing which patients are referred by primary care pediatricians to pediatric subspecialists], changes in the number of osteopathic medical students entering pediatrics, changes in pediatric population vs. adult population, impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on care models).
