Physician–Scientist Training Metrics & Competencies
Standardize qualitative and quantitative measures of early success and long-term retention across pediatric physician–scientist training programs.
This work, in collaboration with NPSCW, focuses on advancing shared metrics and competency frameworks to better define and assess physician–scientist development, particularly as programs explore competency-based approaches to training.
Key components include:
- Reviewing existing qualitative and quantitative training metrics
- Comparing pediatric pathways with other specialties
- Developing shared competency frameworks
- Advancing recommendations to support retention and long-term success
This work is particularly important as programs explore competency-based approaches to physician–scientist training and seek more reliable ways to assess early progress, retention, and long-term career outcomes.
